NEW ART!
The New Normal
The New Normal is a series of ten abstract paintings created in January, February, and March of 2026 during a major transition in my life.
These works came out of a period of grief, change, uncertainty, and adjustment. Painting helped me process emotions that were often hard to put into words. Some pieces feel tense or unsettled, while others reflect moments of balance, energy, and forward movement.
Working intuitively with acrylic and mixed media, I used color, texture, layering, and mark-making to respond honestly to what I was experiencing at the time. Together, the paintings document a personal transition and the gradual process of finding my footing in a new normal.
Landscapes of Change
In Shifting Ground and Geography of Memory, Kathy Kenny explores the terrain of transformation—both the outer landscapes we move through and the inner ones we carry within. Through layered brushwork, textured surfaces, and a palette that shifts between muted restraint and bold movement, these contemporary abstract paintings reflect resilience, memory, and the delicate balance between uncertainty and stability. Whether read as personal narratives or universal metaphors, the works invite viewers to linger in the space between past and present, movement and stillness.
